About AgapēFit

“AgápÄ“” á¼€γάπη (ah-GAHP-eh) [noun] Greek:
the love of God; unconditional divine love that persists regardless of circumstances; a decision of the will to cherish and esteem, going beyond emotions to seek the best for others; the love exhibited by Christ; the love between the Father and the Son. The highest conceivable form of love. The love the world has, phileo (φιλέω), is based on condition (the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" mentality).  AgápÄ“ love is giving, constant, selfless, and unconditional.

Mission

At AgapÄ“Fit, living agápÄ“ love is a part of everyday life - whether at home, out with friends, running errands, working - whatever we do. It's our lifestyle and what we believe.

Here at AgapÄ“Fit, we strive to live the agápÄ“ way - seeking the best for YOU in your fitness journey, in a welcoming, safe, nurturing, nonintimidating, caring space, free of judgment. We believe everybody and every Body deserves the respect of their choice to move in a way that is best for them. It's a choice that we take very seriously. It's in our name. Unconditional fitness for every BODY.

Every class we teach, unless noted, is good for every size, fitness level, age, gender, and ability. We also offer chair-assisted adaptations. Our personal training is specifically tailored to what you like to do. Love dancing? You'll get a dance-based program. Hate burpees/push-ups/planks? No worries - you won't do them.  We work with you to develop a program you'll love and will stay with!

We also want to hear from you - suggestions, requests, needs - because we are here for you.

About Your Trainer/Instructor

Hi! My name is Jacinta DeCohen, but you may call me Jaye. I live in Atlanta, GA, originally from New Jersey. I am a mother of two and grandmother of three awesome grandies (they call me "Lola"). I love God, His Word, and people, and I strive to bring all of that into whatever I do.

I started teaching fitness in 2008 and am an ACE Fitness Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and a Certified Size-Inclusive Fitness Specialist through SITA (Size-Inclusive Training Academy). I am licensed to teach Zumba Fitness®, Zumba Toning®, Zumba Kids® & Zumba Kids Jr.®, Zumba Gold® & Zumba Gold Toning®, STRONG Nation®, and CIRCL Mobility™. I am also a Certified Phase II willPower & grace™ and Cardio Yoga™ instructor.

I started teaching fitness to do what I loved (giving, serving, and working out) and to help get myself back "in shape" after recovering from an injury. At the time, I didn't realize that my "shape" was already determined by genetics and that I was setting out to fight a losing battle against unrealistic standards not made for me, or people that looked like me.

I'm excited to meet and work with you wherever you are in your fitness/movement journey to bring love, joy, function, and fun!
